WhatsApp Web: Reclaiming UI Excellence through Vibe Coding

The WhatsApp Web design system serves hundreds of millions of users, yet it's maintained by a team of just one designer and one engineer. That constraint forced us to rethink how design work gets done.

The key has been compressing the traditional design-to-engineering handoff. Instead of specifying, documenting, and waiting for every small change, I've started shipping code directly to production using Claude and VS Code.

In this talk, I'll walk through my workflow, how I explore and audit an unfamiliar codebase, migrate design system assets into production, and the lessons learned along the way.
